Contactless
Machining Process
ECM (Electro Chemical Machining) is a highly advanced, contactless machining process that removes material through controlled electrical energy in a liquid solution, similar in concept to EDM.
Unlike traditional rifling methods, no physical tooling contacts the barrel during the process. This eliminates tool wear, mechanical pressure, and thermal distortion entirely. The barrel remains cool and stress-free throughout the entire process, providing a massive advantage in structural integrity and dimensional stability.

No Thermal Stress

Predictability & Repeatability
One of the biggest breakthroughs of ECM is the absolute predictability of the finished product. Unlike traditional methods that rely on physical cutters or buttons, this process allows us to know exactly what the finished internal geometry will be before the barrel is even completed.
Micron Precision
Internal geometries are controlled to sub-micron tolerances, ensuring every groove is identical.
Highly Consistent
Every barrel produced is highly consistent from one to the next, giving shooters confidence in repeatable performance.
Zero Variability
Eliminates the 'lot-to-lot' variation common with traditional button or cut rifling methods.

Total Internal
Geometry Control
ECM allows for extremely precise control over the rifling process, including the ability to adjust groove depth, dwell time, and electrical pulse as the tool moves through the barrel.
Variable groove depth for optimized bullet seal
Integrated chamber relief and muzzle choke
Complex gain twist rifling profiles
Customized internal surface finishes
This level of control opens the door to performance improvements that are simply not achievable with traditional rifling methods.
REAL-WORLD
RESULTS
Testing has shown performance capable of well under 1/4 MOA and even approaching 0.12 MOA with proper load development.
The key advantage is not just accuracy, but consistency and repeatability from barrel to barrel. When you replace a Carbon Six barrel, you can expect the same world-class performance every time.

Internal Finish
The internal finish produced by ECM is extremely smooth and uniform, requiring only minimal hand-lapping to achieve a polished, high-performance bore.
There are no sharp edges or distortions in the rifling, which contributes to significantly reduced break-in time and immediate performance out of the box. Shooters spend less time cleaning and more time on target.
Reduced Break-in
Easier Cleaning

No Material Stress
No mechanical force is applied, preventing internal stress.
No Heat Treatment
Eliminates the need for thermal stress relief processes.
Dimensional Stability
No changes from heating or mechanical pressure.
Production Efficiency
Faster and more efficient cycles than traditional methods.
Years of Development
Carbon Six has deliberately invested years of development and significant resources into perfecting this process, making it a true advancement in barrel manufacturing rather than a minor improvement.
This is a forward-looking technology designed to meet the demands of modern high-performance ammunition and long-range shooting. We aren't just building barrels; we're engineering the future of accuracy.
